Removing vocals from the mix

Mono-a-Mono can act as a "vocal remover" by producing separate left-only and right-only signals, without the centre channel. The centre channel (usually) includes the lead vocals (or the soloist in classical recordings). Removing it will produce an output which is suitable for use in karaoke, or for remixing with a different soloist.

Mono-a-Mono is unusual in that it will remove the centre channel even if it was placed off-centre by the original mixing engineer, or if left and right playback circuitry is not perfectly matched.
